Patrick W. Berry is a Partner at McCoy Leavitt Laskey LLC. He was admitted to the California Bar in 2012. He is also admitted to practice in United States District Court for the Southern District of California, Central District of California, Northern District of California, Eastern District of California, as well as the U.S. Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Patrick received his undergraduate education at the University of Tennessee Knoxville (B.A., 1999). After working for approximately 7 years as a paralegal in both San Francisco and San Diego, he then attended California Western School of Law in San Diego where he received his juris doctor in 2011. While in law school, Patrick was a member of law review and graduated with honors (Cum Laude). Patrick has been a volunteer judge for Mock Trial and Moot Court competitions.

Patrick is an experienced trial attorney representing clients locally and nationally.  Patrick’s practice involves substantial work in fires and explosions.  He also has extensive experience in complex construction defect litigation where he defends owners, developers, manufacturers, contractors, design build professionals, design build contractors and their insurers.  He has experience in defending high profile sex abuse matters throughout California, including Olympic organizations, the California Parent-Teachers Association, and religious organizations.  He has substantial experience defending cases involving professional liability, product liability, employment and labor, personal injuries, property damages and security breaches. 

Before becoming a lawyer, Patrick worked as a paralegal at a defense firm working on insurance coverage claims from the 1994 Northridge Earthquake. 

Patrick is a proud husband and the father of two daughters and loves spending time with his family.  Patrick  regularly participates in Read Across America events where he reads children’s books (i.e., Dr. Suess books) to underprivileged schoolkids.  He and his family also regularly volunteer at Feeding America events where they provide food for the homeless. 

In his free time Patrick enjoys playing music (guitar and drums), golfing, surfing, and skateboarding.  He is a member of the San Diego Defense Lawyers (SDDL), San Diego County Bar Association (SDCBA) and the Louis M. Welsh Chapter of the American Inns of Court.
