J. Robert Spencer

Joseph Robert Spencer is an attorney with McCoy Leavitt Laskey.  Before joining the firm, "Bob" practiced civil litigation and served as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for a County Prosecutor’s Office in southeast Michigan.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Bob spent nearly 30 years in law enforcement, primarily in investigative and supervisory roles. He also served in the United States Army as a sergeant in the military police, both overseas and stateside.  His investigative background continues to shape his approach to legal work, particularly his attention to evidence, witness testimony, and the details surrounding a claim.

Bob approaches his practice with an emphasis on careful preparation, practical problem-solving, and clear communication. He works collaboratively with clients, colleagues, and experts to understand the facts and legal issues involved in each matter and to develop an effective litigation strategy.
